These two adorable girls were involved in one of the projects we did during the last couple weeks of December 2010.
THE CUSTODIO PROJECT, which began on Saturday the 11th and was completed on Tuesday the 21st, provided home repairs for a low-income family in Hillsboro. They found out about Catalyst from a friend. 8 volunteers replaced a badly broken & leaky front door (new door donated by Suburban Door in Tualatin), replaced the main kitchen counter top, sink, and faucet, cleaned out some drains (yuk), and repaired/replaced innoperative heaters in the front half of the home. It was wonderful to provide for the family's basic necessity of warmth just in time for Christmas!
THE STATON PROJECT took place on Sunday, December 12. 14 Volunteers mobilized to help a disabled homeowner in Beaverton, who found out about Catalyst from the City of Beaverton. We safely removed a mid-sized, diseased birch tree from the front yard, which had been threatening to drop branches. We also did major yard cleanup in the front & back yards, and helped with a bit of housecleaning as well.
